1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you and BudgetClan ("BudgetClan," "we," "us," or "our") governing your use of the BudgetClan mobile application, website (budgetclan.site), and all related services (collectively, the "Service").

By registering for, accessing, or using the Service, you represent that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated herein by reference.

2. Description of Service

BudgetClan is a family finance management application that enables:

• Parents and partners (co-parents) to manage a shared family wallet, allot funds to children, assign chores, and monitor family financial activity.
• Children to view their balance, complete chores, track savings goals, and communicate with their family via encrypted chat.
• AI-assisted chore verification through photo submissions processed by the Google Gemini API.
• Subscription-based premium features including ad-free experience and additional AI verifications.

BudgetClan is a budgeting and financial education tool. It does not constitute financial advice, banking services, or money transmission. All balances within the app represent virtual allowance tracking only and do not involve real monetary transfers between parties.

3. Eligibility & Account Registration

3.1 Parents and Partners

• You must be at least 18 years of age to register as a Parent or Partner.
• You must provide accurate, complete, and current information during registration.
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account credentials used to sign into BudgetClan.
• You may not create an account on behalf of another adult without their consent.

3.2 Child Accounts

• Child accounts may only be created by a registered Parent.
• By creating a child account, the Parent provides verifiable parental consent for the child's limited participation in the Service.
• Children access the Service exclusively through their Family Code, name, and 4-digit PIN — credentials managed and provided by the Parent.
• Parents are responsible for their children's use of the Service.

3.3 Family Code

Each Clan receives a unique Family Code (format: BEE-XXXX-XXXX). You are responsible for keeping your Family Code secure. Do not share it publicly. Sharing the Family Code grants access to your family's financial data within the app.

4. Parent Responsibilities

As the Clan Admin (Parent), you are solely responsible for:

• Supervising all financial activity within your family Clan.
• The accuracy of budget allocations, chore assignments, and approvals you make within the app.
• Ensuring that the child information you enter is accurate and that you have the right to create profiles for the children in your Clan.
• Reviewing and approving or rejecting chore completions and spending requests submitted by children.
• Managing Partner access permissions appropriately.
• Promptly removing family members who should no longer have access to your Clan.

5. Subscriptions & Billing

5.1 Subscription Tiers

BudgetClan offers the following subscription tiers:

• Free: 1 child, ads enabled, no AI chore verifications.
• Plus: Up to 5 children, no ads, 3 AI verifications per child per month.
• Pro: Unlimited children, no ads, 5 AI verifications per child per month.

5.2 Billing

• Paid subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store via RevenueCat.
• Subscription fees are charged to your App Store or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase.
• Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
• Prices are subject to change. We will provide reasonable notice of price changes.

5.3 Refunds

Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google according to their respective refund policies. BudgetClan does not directly process refunds for in-app purchases.

5.4 Free Tier Ads

The Free tier includes non-personalised advertisements served by Google Mobile Ads. Ads are not shown to users on Plus or Pro plans. We do not permit personalised advertising directed at child users on any tier.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use BudgetClan for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws or regulations.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the app.
• Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access or interact with the Service.
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to another family's Clan or any BudgetClan systems.
• Upload malicious content, including photos intended to deceive the AI chore verification system.
• Share your Family Code publicly in a way that allows unauthorised individuals to join your Clan.
• Use the family chat feature to send harmful, abusive, or illegal content.
• Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation.
• Attempt to overwhelm our systems with excessive requests (rate limits are enforced).

7. AI Features

BudgetClan uses the Google Gemini API to verify chore completion based on photos submitted by children. Please be aware:

• AI verification is an assistive tool — its decisions are not final. Parents always retain the right to manually approve or reject any chore.
• AI verification results may not always be accurate. Do not rely solely on AI output for important household decisions.
• Photos submitted for verification are processed by Google's Gemini API under Google's terms and privacy policy. Images are not stored by BudgetClan after processing.
• AI verification quota is limited per the user's subscription tier and resets monthly.
• We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue AI features at any time.

8. Intellectual Property

The BudgetClan name, logo, app design, codebase, and all related content are the exclusive intellectual property of BudgetClan and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other applicable laws.

You retain ownership of any content you submit (e.g., chat messages, chore photos) but grant BudgetClan a limited licence to process and display that content solely to provide the Service.

You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of any BudgetClan content without our express written permission.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BUDGETCLAN DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components. BudgetClan is not a financial institution and does not provide financial, legal, or tax advice.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, BUDGETCLAN AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US (IF ANY) IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms or if we determine, in our sole discretion, that continued access poses a risk to other users or the platform.

You may delete your account at any time from App Settings → Delete Account. Upon deletion, your data will be permanently removed within 30 days as described in our Privacy Policy.

Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination shall survive, including intellectual property rights, disclaimers, and limitation of liability.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which BudgetClan is registered, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration, except where prohibited by law. Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking injunctive relief in a court of competent jurisdiction.

13. Changes to Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via in-app notification or email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
